Ancient History

I wonder why I'm here..................

Pictures

a painted picture

of a soul

lost in dreams

of places

and people

fortunate others spared

the turmoil of memories

a soul that

can not forget the loss

of time

or things forgotton

by fortunate others

a dreaming one

 who remembers another place

and other people

of souls and sorrows

of hope and wonderful

emotions

a painted picture

of a heart

ravaged by time and loss

and things forgotton

by fortunate others

a heart that lives in dreams

of another place

of another time

in the untarnished happiness

of memories that may have been

forgotton by others

but will forever remain

as a picture painted.

And they're off!!!!

Why everyone should try betting on the ponies - at least just once:

Chicks dig horses.

Cocktails are cheap and easy to get - At least at the local track they are.

The horses can hear you cheer.

Jockies are like midgets in bright clothes.

You can throw your empty cardboard beer cup at a snob in a derby.

Bet a dollar - Win $1.20

Trifecta - Quinella - Exacta - Many ways to win.

The race is over in less than 3 minutes

Wine comes in plastic cups.

Seabiscuit did it.

The Toast - Don't eat it.

I have to write a toast. My best friend is getting married next month and I have to do a toast as the maid of honor.

So what do you talk about?

Things not to talk about would include:

Any stories about excessive drinking - grandma and grandpa don't need to hear about the time we had alcohol poisoning after EdgeFest.

Stories about Random Stray that followed us home - Groom's family will probably appreciate not having to hear about guys whose names we can't remember.

Stories about People we hate - Most would include ex-boyfriends. Not a wedding topic

What I would do for the Bride - Once again I was trying to be sweet, ending up sounding homicidal.

Also nothing about Cow Party (heh heh), X-fest, Edgefest, the Tom Petty concert, the scar on the back of my leg, why we have some weird nick-names, concussions, Waynes Cafe, why we lost the car, St. Ides, Gustavus Adolphus, sprinklers, skinny dipping, and strip bowling. That should about cover it.

I guess that only leave me with how much she means to me. How our friendship changed my life and made me a better person. How her husband is the luckiest guy on the planet and he better remember that every day. Her selflessness, her kind and caring nature, her love of laughter and the joy she shares with everyone.

That should about cover it.

Not favorite, but getting there

Penn & Teller - now I was never a fan. I actually avoided any radio or TV shows concerning, featuring, or hosted by them. But I broke down, watched a couple and now I have new hope for the American people. I wonder if I am the only person who thinks this way, but I am not alone. Reasonable people exist. They just don't make the front page as often as the fruit cakes.

Political parties and those who identify themselves with political parties are the single most dangerous thing in this world besides organized religion. Someone who spouts, "I am a Democrat!" or  "I am a Republican!" tends to think along party lines as well. Penn & Teller have helped me realize something very important. I am neither. Just like I am not a Christian, or Buddhist, or Muslim - I do not believe in these parties either. To define yourself and your way of thinking into just one word, limits your ability to process information and formulate your own opinion. Some legislators feel limited, confined, or obligated to vote along party lines instead of what their constituents want. Some voters do not inform themselves and vote willy nilly for whoever is a member of their chosen party. This is not the process our founding fathers intended, (well hopefully it isn't).

So there you go - Religious extremist = Political extremist

Be your own person. Have an opinion.

Here is mine - Don't fuck with me!!!  I'm a good person. I don't kill, rape, rob, or otherwise infringe on other people's pursuit of happiness. I contribute to society by working, paying taxes, and being an all around sheep. Baa Baa Baa leave me alone. But if you think you are going to infringe on my personal rights, this sheep is going to kick your ass. I will smoke (everything), I will own guns, I will not let some suit wearing congressman to legislate my freedoms away.

Prime example - "Unauthorized" wire taps  vs.  Smoking Bans

The wire taps - If your not doing anything illegal, what is the problem? I realize you have a right to privacy, but hey after 9-11 everybody called for the government to protect them from the terrorists. You voted for it people, you got it. No illegal activity, you just got filed.

"People willing to give up a little freedom for security, deserve neither security nor freedom."

Smoking Bans - Smoking is still legal. Bar owners are losing their shirts. And anyone who tells you otherwise is an IDIOT!!! I have seen statistics were sales have gone up in smoking ban areas. They why, O giver of vague statistics, are so many bars shutting down? Tell me why? They can't adapt to a smoking ban? They don't know how to do business? How can a bar stay open, with the same owner for over 30 years and not be able to do business. Bullshit. We are infringing on these owner's right to happiness. The right given to them by the Constitution. No one will come to their aid or criticize the establishment for the death of a traditional small business.

Cereal

Does anybody know what happened to Boo Berry or Frankenberry. Did Count Chocula eat them? Did the cereal cause cancer? Was there a big cereal character coup and the "Berry" brothers were casualties of war?

I think it was the Trix rabbit. I never trusted him.
